Hooray!! We finally got Ava’s 4 year old pics done! And they turned out so cute! She was so excited to do these, and we’ve been waiting for the perfect day. Today was it! I’m going to overload you a bit though. You know you love it.

I drove to Chicago this morning to do a sitting with a newborn baby, Matthew, and his sister, Elsie. Matthew was born around the same time that my daughter, Lily was born. Mom was nice enough to let me bring Lily along for the shoot and she was a perfect little angel, sleeping through the whole sitting! Matthew is just adorable with his head full of hair and his big beautiful eyes! And Elsie is such a sweetie, and so photogenic! Thanks for a great shoot and thanks for letting me bring Lily along!

My brother’s family and mine went down (they came up) to Rantoul, IL to the Reindeer Ranch for some Christmas pictures for their kids. I don’t get to see them often, so I usually jump at the chance to meet for whatever reason. Ava loves spending time with her cousins, so it makes for a nice day vacation almost. So we fed some reindeer, took some pictures, let the kids play and had some dinner nearby. Great day!

Happy Halloween! Ava was Dorothy for Halloween and she just picked up the part and ran with it! Or, skipped down the yellow brick road with it. This year she needed no coaxing to knock on those doors and ask for candy. She really did a great job. She even used her please and thank you’s! She needed some help with some of the high doorbells, but other than that, she was all over it! I may be biased, but I really think she is the prettiest Dorothy ever. Eat your heart out Judy Garland.

We took a weekend trip down to St. Louis to visit some friends. We had a great time! I haven’t been to St. Louis since I was a kid and Todd had never been. I even built up the courage to ride in the washing machines of death up to the top of the Arch! It wasn’t so bad up there. Ava didn’t seem to mind! The food was pretty good, but they I don’t think they have one hot dog or pizza joint in the entire city. Not like Chicago anyway. We survived. It was a great weekend getaway!

We went to the apple orchard a couple of days this week and we had a blast! The first day I got Ava all dressed up for pictures there, and then forgot my camera. Pregnancy brain is great. So I had to settle for pics when we got home. But I took some a few days later when we went. This was the first time for all of us to go to an apple orchard, and it was just great! The apples were beyond delicious and Ava had a great time picking them and running through the orchard. We’ll have to make this a yearly thing!

A much needed vacation! My family on my mom’s side (most of us, anyway) went down to Santa Claus, IN for a camping trip. We had a great time! Camping, S’mores, spelunking, white water rafting, and a pretty great theme park and water park! We already picked out a prime camping spot to go again next year. Maybe we can get everyone in on it! I can’t wait!

Ava clung to Lisa, my brother’s girlfriend almost the whole weekend! Sorry, Lisa! Want to be a sitter?!? :D

Love this pic of my hubby.

Spelunking (well…cave walking) was pretty neat and posed a challenge for interesting pictures!

Cousins playing with glowsticks.

The fam! Minus my mom and my sister and her husband.

I told you we’d be back! I decided to take Ava back to the nature preserve for her 3 year old pictures. I invited my best friend, Melaina to bring her son along because his 4th birthday is a week before Ava’s and I thought it might be nice to get their pictures together. They’re as best friends as a 3 and 4 year old can be, so why not? I didn’t want the typical posed pictures this year and I thought of this idea about a week before hand. Ava is a bit of a tomboy and Tylor is the typical boy, so I wanted to bring that out. So I dressed her up in a white dress and Lain dressed Ty in a t-shirt and jeans, we brought them to the muddiest part of the forest preserve and let them loose! And it turned out to be my all time favorite shoot…hands down! You’ll forgive me for being biased of course haha! I couldn’t possibly pick just a few from this, so there are a whole bunch to show off. And to answer your question- No, the mud never did come out of either outfit!

No problems getting Ty to jump in!
Ava was a bit timid at first. “Oh no! My dress!!”

How cute is that?

Finally we have some decent weather! My girlfriend told me about a nature preserve nearby (been here 5 years and I had no idea!) so Todd and I decided to take Ava for a walk to check it out. We had a great time and I think we’ll be making this a regular hang out this summer. Ava loved it, she was so interested in everything! We walked for about a mile and I think Ava would have walked the entire 3 miles if we stayed. But the sun was going down and we didn’t feel like getting stuck in the woods after dark. We’ll be back though!

LOVE this shot!

She looks so tiny!

Showing Daddy a leaf.

Watching the deer that ran past us.

Ava telling us to be quiet when we see deer.

And a parting shot that I just loved.
