One of my very good friends, Jill asked me to take pictures of her beautiful family and their adorable daughter, Mia for her 1st birthday. This kid has the sweetest smile! Here are just a couple from our shoot at Lake Katherine. I’ll post the rest soon!

I couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for this shoot! Overcast skies, nice and cool. Not to mention the beautiful family I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing! More pictures of the little Miss Kiera and her beautiful family soon!

Alexia (Lexie for short) is my best friend, Melaina’s daughter. This girl is cute as a button, and the giggles that you can get out of this girl would make anyone laugh until their sides hurt! She turned one in August and we decided to take her newly walking legs out to Lake Katherine in Palos Heights to let her get some practice in. Lain got her all dolled up and let her sport a few different selections from the Stella & Dot girls collection. (Thank you Tammy!) She did so great, she was so curious about everything around her. Thanks Lain, for letting me get your baby girl in front of my lens!

Rhianna and I “met” each other through an online forum for mom’s. She and her husband, Jeff and their adorable baby, Charlotte live in Colorado She contacted me through Facebook, letting me know they were coming back to Illinois to visit with both of their families and they’d like a big family picture. Two families, made up of six separate families, seven couples, and eight kids. Pretty much the largest family group I’ve done since starting my business. I had a blast! Everyone is so photogenic, it was hard not to have a great time. Plus, the land and the barn on Rhianna’s sister’s property made a fantastic backdrop for the pictures. All the blues with the textures of the barn, perfect. Thank you so much, all of you for such a fantasic shoot!

Ok, so if you haven’t guessed yet from the sneak peek, Lilavabigen is the name we came up with for my daughters (Ava & Lily) and two of my nieces, Megan & Abigal (Abby is Ethan’s sister, for those who are keeping count!). Last year on a family camping trip, Megan, Ava and Abby were attached at the hip. They went everywhere together. So, we named them as a unit, Avabigen. Lily was too little to hang out, she was only about 3 months. Now, Lily’s walking and so we added her into the unit and named them Lilavabigen.
My brother (Megan’s dad) and his family live down state, so when they come up to visit, we try to make it an occasion. My sister-in-law mentioned that The Chicago Children’s Theater was putting on a play, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites. (Fantastic!!) So we decided to have a girly day and get Lilavabigen together. Then we started talking about pictures and tutu’s got involved and then my super secret field, and that was it. We were set and we were SO excited! My sister Jessica got the shirts from The Children’s Place I got the tights from BabyLegs, and my mom and I were up until the wee hours of the night making tutu’s. Actually, my mom never did get sleep that night and then she proceeded to babysit Ethan while we went downtown all day and then had the session. Mom, you’re awesome. I love you!
The shoot itself went great! There was a sleeping baby 5 minutes before the shoot and there was whining and crying and lots of drama, but you’ll have that with girls. Lily isn’t fast enough to stay with the older girls, so there were a couple falls, but she’s a tough chick. There was a LOT of mud on the way to and from the field, but once we were in, it was much drier. I took about 230 pictures (not a lot for me) before it started to drizzle. Little girls + tutu’s + rain + a field = disaster. So I finished up, we piggy backed the girls out of there, and got in the cars. And then it started to pour! Can we say lucky? All in all, I think it was a fantastic shoot, one of my all time favorites for sure!

This little sweetheart is turning one! I gave a sneak peek a few days ago. Here are the highlights from her shoot. She did such a great job! I’ve taken her pictures before when she was 6 months old, and she’s just as fun now. How adorable is her little tutu? And those eyes? You can’t go wrong with chocolate eyes. Thanks Leah for being such a joy, and Happy Birthday!!
