A much needed vacation! My family on my mom’s side (most of us, anyway) went down to Santa Claus, IN for a camping trip. We had a great time! Camping, S’mores, spelunking, white water rafting, and a pretty great theme park and water park! We already picked out a prime camping spot to go again next year. Maybe we can get everyone in on it! I can’t wait!

I told you we’d be back! I decided to take Ava back to the nature preserve for her 3 year old pictures. I invited my best friend, Melaina to bring her son along because his 4th birthday is a week before Ava’s and I thought it might be nice to get their pictures together. They’re as best friends as a 3 and 4 year old can be, so why not? I didn’t want the typical posed pictures this year and I thought of this idea about a week before hand. Ava is a bit of a tomboy and Tylor is the typical boy, so I wanted to bring that out. So I dressed her up in a white dress and Lain dressed Ty in a t-shirt and jeans, we brought them to the muddiest part of the forest preserve and let them loose! And it turned out to be my all time favorite shoot…hands down! You’ll forgive me for being biased of course haha! I couldn’t possibly pick just a few from this, so there are a whole bunch to show off. And to answer your question- No, the mud never did come out of either outfit!

No problems getting Ty to jump in!
Ava was a bit timid at first. “Oh no! My dress!!”

How cute is that?

Finally we have some decent weather! My girlfriend told me about a nature preserve nearby (been here 5 years and I had no idea!) so Todd and I decided to take Ava for a walk to check it out. We had a great time and I think we’ll be making this a regular hang out this summer. Ava loved it, she was so interested in everything! We walked for about a mile and I think Ava would have walked the entire 3 miles if we stayed. But the sun was going down and we didn’t feel like getting stuck in the woods after dark. We’ll be back though!
LOVE this shot!
She looks so tiny!
Watching the deer that ran past us.
Ava telling us to be quiet when we see deer.
And a parting shot that I just loved.

Ava did a great job with the easter egg hunt this morning! She kept asking us to hide them again for her after the Easter Bunny already did. After that we went up north to Todd’s grandmother’s home for Easter dinner & we had a great time! Ava of course flirted with all the guys and had them chasing her around the house! We’re in trouble with this one!
“You go hide the eggs! I counting!”

Cracking open her eggs to get her treasure.
Ava and her great-grandma watching the egg hunt in the snow!

So I might be biased, but I truly think my daughter is the cutest thing on the planet. Her hair is nothing like mine though and so I find myself having fun with her hair more than mine. I’ve never put her hair in little pigtail braids before, but I thought I’d give it a shot. Well…yea. She IS the cutest thing on the planet.

We bought Ava her first pair of skates today. She was so excited to go out! We let her go around the livingroom a bit to get a feel for them, and she was doing great! It wasn’t until she got out on the pavement when she decided it was a little too much for her. Todd, who is a great rollerblader, took her around a few laps until she decided to call it quits. At least I got pictures to prove she tried! Good for her!

Since I don’t have any weddings until the middle of Febuary and the winter snow is piling up daily, Todd and I decided to take advantage of it all and take Ava outside last month to have some fun. She’s very cautious with everything, and snow is no exception. She likes to move it around and throw it at you, but do NOT throw snow at her and she does NOT want to sit in it or use that “fun” contraption mommy and daddy call a sled! She had a lot of fun, regardless, and eventually got down and dirty and made a snow angel!
